Property in Javea, It dosen’t take long to find pages of sites gushing about this coastal jewel of a town – how its old town is steeped in history and gothic architecture; how its fishing harbour and attractive marina is a perfect spot to take a stroll, and how the Arenal with it’s long stretch of white sandy beach is brimming with cosmopolitan shops, restaurants and bars. They are not wrong. Javea is without a doubt a stunningly, beautiful coastal town with something to suit everyone. But, even though beauty is all very well and good every inspirational quote ever quoted reminds us that it is personality that counts. Luckily Javea, has personality by the cart load!
Javea has three very distinct areas set out in a sort of triangle – the old town, the port, and the Arenal (which is the sandy beach area). The reason it is spread like this is that the inhabitants of Javea actually had to move 2km inland sometime in the 9th century and build a wall around the town to protect it from the constant attack from pirates. Luckily, there have been no recent pirate attacks against the town and although the majority of the wall was demolished in the late 19th century some still stands as a testament to that time.
